These dog treats are super healthy and with only three ingredients, they couldn't be easier to make. Your pup is sure to love them!
Our dog Jax has a lot of trouble with the pads of his feet. They get extremely dry and crack so bad sometimes that he has a hard time even walking on them. We have tried everything to help him but nothing seems to keep them healed up for long.
Lately I’ve been researching the benefits of coconut oil for dogs. Coconut oil has many benefits for humans as most of us know, from deep hair conditioning to relieving extra dry skin. I wasn’t surprised to find out that it’s great for dogs too. Here are just a few of the many benefits of coconut oil for dogs:
I definitely want all of these benefits for Jax so I thought I’d try to make some simple treats using coconut oil, cinnamon, and one of his very favorites, peanut butter.
I added cinnamon because of it's anti-inflammatory properties as well as its ability to help regulate blood sugar and assist with insulin resistance. Plus it’s just delicious! I simply melted the coconut oil, cinnamon, and peanut butter in a saucepan on the stove over medium-low heat, mixing all ingredients together until combined and smooth.
I then poured the mixture into mini muffin tins sprayed with coconut baking spray and froze until set. Since it's almost Halloween I also used these cute silicon skull trays for part of the batch.
They pop right out of the trays and can be stored in a covered container in the fridge.
This recipe couldn't be any simpler and Jax absolutely loves them.
It’s a super easy way to give him coconut oil and I’m so hoping it helps with his dry paws. Try this recipe today and let us know how your pup likes it!
